Nighthawks (2024)

2024
Acrylic On Canvas

This artwork serves as a portrayal of a reimagined space inspired by Edward Hopper's Nighthawks (1942). Through this piece, I have reconsidered the concept of site-specific art. Instead of creating art tied to a physical location, I have constructed a setting that exists solely within the human mind, which intends to serve as an art. The perspective has been reversed, providing viewers a glimpse into what lies beyond their gaze when observing Hopper's Nighthawks. The four figures depicted in the original painting have been removed to evoke a sense of temporal transformation from the original composition. While the shift in perspective has introduced a new dimension to the space in Nighthawks, the audience continues to seek space beyond the confines of the painting.
